Most Valuable currencies

This summer (July, August and Septmber) we will have the theme Economics.

The following lists will appear on (instead of every seventh of a month) every day with the "0" in it. (10, 20 and 30) So we will get three lists a month instead of one!

Most valuable currencies
Richest counties now
Lagerst national debts
Richest living people
Richest countries ever
Biggest companies today
Least valuable currencies

For personal reasons I can't post the lists of july 30 and august 10, therefore, they will be uploaded earlier and later, enjoy!

If we're talking economy, we're talking money, so here is the list of the most valuable currencies!

10.
Australia, Dollar
After a long time of trying to find a new and creative name, unfortunately, the new Australian currency of 1966 was named the least creative possible, Dollar. They tried many names, Oz, Ming, Emu... Eventually, the PM decided to name it rowal, him being a monarchist, though it was unpopular, and they decided to call it Dollar

9.
Cayman Islands, Dollar
Before the Cayman Islands Dollar, the Jamaican Dollar was used to pay, and for some time, both were legal. When the Jamaican Dollar became illegal to pay with, the Cayman Islands Dollar was pinned at the value of 1.2 U.S. Dollar.

8.
Azerbaijan, Manat
throughout history there have been two versions of the Manat, the first since 1919 and the current (second) Manat was introduced in 1992, after the USSR fell.

7.
EU, Euro
the currency used in the most countries on earth, created to make traveling inside the EU easier, as people could pay with the Euro (almost) anywhere.

6.
Jordan, Dinar
The Jordan Dinar has been the official currency of Jordan for a long time, also in the Jordan west bank, which is under Israeli control since 1967, where the Israeli currencies had the problem of hyperinflation, the Dinar was a steady currency and a great advantage for those living there.

5.
UK; Gibraltar; Saint Helena; Falkland, Pound
Celebrating its 855th birthday this year, the Pound is the oldest currency of the list. from the eighteenth to the end of WWII it was what the US Dollar is today.

4.
Latvia, Lat
in 2014, we will have said farewell to our current worldwide number four, for it is to be replaced with the Euro (7). regarding the current list, the Pound Sterling will probably take the Lat's place, but especially with currencies, you never know, for example: today the Pound may be worth around 1,5 US$ tomorrow it can be worth half a penny.

3.
Oman, Rial
The Omani Rial was introduced when the state of Oman was formed in 1970, replacing Muscat and Oman, a combinated country.

2.
Bahrein, Dinar
Since 1965 the Bahrain currency, originally equal to 10 Gulf Rupees, at the time 75 Pence. the word Dinar is based on the Latin word DENARIVS, which was the most common coin in ancient Rome and one of the earliest currencies. instead of being divided in 100, which is common in the west, the Bahrain Dinar is divided into 1000 fils.

1.
Kuwait, Dinar
When the Dinar was first introduced in the Arabian state of Kuwait, it was equal to the Pound Sterling (England), before it's introduction in 1961, the Gulf Rupee was the official unit in Kuwait and other countries on the Arabian peninsula, including Bahrain and Oman. Kuwait was the first to replace the Rupee, in 1970 the last country, Muscat and Oman (now Oman), turned its back on it and intruduced the Rial.

Richest People ever

This summer (July, August and Septmber) we will have the theme Economics.

The following lists will appear on (instead of every seventh of a month) every day with the "0" in it. (10, 20 and 30) So we will get three lists a month instead of one!

Biggest companies of all time
Richest people ever
Most valuable currencies
Richest counties now
Lagerst national debts
Richest living people
Richest countries ever
Biggest companies today
Least valuable currencies

this time, you will find a list on the richest people of all time, who all happen to be men. except for some people of the richest family of all time, the Rothschild family, a banking family, of which the maximum wealth is estimated at (in current day US$) more than a trillion! but families don't count, as they aren't one single person, but a collective of people. I must inform you that rulers (herital) of countries or parts of them are NOT included, for their wealth can be based on the GDP of their properties, not their personal success.

10.
Jay Gould - US$ 74.8 billion
opening our list with a stunning wealth of 74800000000 dollar, Gould made his fortune through the transportation by train industry. to put his money in perspective, if he would give away a dollar a second he would spend over 2300 years to give it all away, so if his family started at his death, in 1892, they would be finished somewhere in 4265, which is in 2252 years! can you imagine how long it would take for the richest person ever!

9.
Friedrich Weyerhäuser - US$ 83.4 billion
Prussian monetary genius Weyerhäuser is the most opulent man of a country that does not exist today. He made his riches through wood industry. Existing to date, the Weyenhäuser Company owns spacious areas in Canada.

8.
A.T. Steward - US$ 93.4 billion
Lower Manhattan is a very living part of the City That Never Sleeps, New York, Steward was the first to open a departement store there, genius! The Irish entrepeneur built up a shopping empire and had a reasonable part of the American mail industry.
7.
Étienne Girard - US$ 110.3 billion
The first in this list to surpass the 100,000,000,000 dollar, and one of the only seven in world history to do that, is French-born American banker who saved the U.S. economy during and after the war of 1812. Vive le Français!
6.
John J. Astor - US$ 127.1 billion
The American fur trader (as you see, that CAN be lucrative) who nearly escaped financial "death" through monopoly around 1800 built up a fortune that made him the richest man ever, he held that title until the number 3 of our list surpassed him shortly after.
5.
Bill Gates - US$ 138.9 billion
The founder, long time Chairman and still owner of Microsoft, Bill Gates, is known as the most generous person in the world. Though Microsoft grew since his peak fortune in 1999, his wealth shrunk to a 70 billion today, which makes him, after a while that Carlos Slim Helu was #1, the richest man today. The reason for his net worth to decrease was his extensive Charity work, through the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
4.
Muammar Al-Gadiffi - US$ 204.2 billion
The fearsome dictator of Libya, known as Colonel Gadaffi ruled his state for decades, as exclusive owner of the Libyan oil industry, he controlled a fortune of over two hundred billion dollars, which made him, secretly, the richest man in the world for a long time.
3.
Cornelius Vanderbilt - US$ 194.4 billion
Dutch American Cornelius Vanderbilt is known as a steamboat entrepeneur with a heart of frozen stone, got his enormous net worth by connecting New York to the surrounding areas using steamboats and railways.
2.
Andrew Carnegie - US$ 329.2 billion
The richest European person, and the richest not American man of all time, the Scotsman Andrew Carnegie built up a major part of the american steel industry, earning millions. He constructed many railroads, and later sold his  company, with the extremely creative name of U.S. Steel Corporation, to JP Morgan.

1.
John D. Rockefeller - US$ 732 billion
By owning Standard Oil, which controlled the American Oil market nearly completely around 1900, John D. Rockefeller became the most wealthy person of all time. In his days he was the first ever US$ Billionaire in history, his legacy today are companies like Exxon-Mobil, BP and Esso. the last of those is actually still called Standard Oil, which shortened is S.O., which is pronounced Esso. Rockefeller is often seen as a heartless human being, willing to sacrifice everything but himself for his own success, despite that, he was the first filantropist like Bill Gates is today. He was far richer than anyone has ever been, although two people are claimed to have owned a lot more than he did, unfortunately, they haven't been proven to have ever existed, for all we know about them, is known from fictional sources. To come back at something I said with number 10, it would take rockefeller around 23212 years to give it all away at a rate of 1$ a second.

Biggest Companies Of All Time

This summer (July, August and Septmber) we will have the theme Economics.

The following lists will appear on (instead of every seventh of a month) every day with the "0" in it. (10, 20 and 30) So we will get three lists a month instead of one!

Biggest companies of all time
Richest people ever
Most valuable currencies
Richest counties now
Lagerst national debts
Richest living people
Richest countries ever
Biggest companies today
Least valuable currencies

For our first list, we will take a look at wealth, and I'm not talking millions, I'm talking Billions and Trillions! but not for people, no, this list will learn you what companies were the biggest of all time. And with that I mean the most valuable companies. Inflation is calculated in the worth of the companies

10.
Exxon-Mobil - US$ 572,900,000,000
Around 1900 Standard oil controlled the American oil industry entirely, which was the reason for it's forced splitup in many independant companies. Two of which, Exxon and Mobil, later merged into a monstrously big oil company.

9.
Apple - US$ 661,600,000,000
Steve Jobs seems to be the reason for Apple's success, not because he founded the tech giant, but also because every time Jobs worked there, Apple grew, and if he wasn't, it got smaller. In august 2012 Apple reached it's height, thanks to products as the iPod, iMac, iPhone and a lot of other iStuff.

8.
Microsoft - US$ 851,000,000,000
Once it released itself from the power of IBM, Microsoft grew crazily, there's an immense chance that you are currently reading this on a Windows-running machine.

7.
PetroChina - US$ 1,000,000,000,000
As the biggest oil producer in China, getting big isn't that unlikely.

6.
IBM - US$ 1,300,000,000,000
IBM is still a large company, although it has been surpassed by other technological companies such as Microsoft, Google and Apple.

5.
Standard Oil - US$ 3,200,000,000,000
Standard Oil once controlled the American oil industry almost entirely. So supreme court decided that it had to spilt into various independant companies, like Exxon, Jersey STandard and a part of BP, of which many shares were still held by John D. Rockefeller, major share holder of Standard Oil.

4.
Saudi Aramco - US$ 3,600,000,000,000
The biggest Asian company ever, sometimes even concidered the biggest of the world ever, with an estimated, though unofficial, worth of 10,000,000,000,000 U.S. Dollars. it got so big because in Saudi Arabia there's a massive amount of oil in the ground. It is privately held by the Saudi Arabian Govenment.

3.
South Sea Company - US$ 4,000,000,000,000
The South Sea Company controlled a real estate bubble in the early 1700's.

2.
Mississippi Company - US$ 6,000,000,000,000
This company "succeeded" the number 1 of our list. It was founded in 1684 and collapsed in 1720. It towed it's wealth to a real estate bubble, and when the bubble popped in 1720, the company popped with it.

1.
VOC - US$ 7,400,000,000,000
With that mad amount of money the - by far - biggest European trader with Asia has earned it's number one place on our list. Thanks to this company, the Dutch experienced their "Gouden Eeuw"(golden century) during the 1600's. The Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, as the Dutch call it, is often associated with slavery, but the VOC is confused with the later founded WIC, whereas the VOC concentrated on spices from the far east, the WIC focused on the new world, using slaves, which wasn't nescessary to the VOC.

It's always impressive to see what the human race can accomplish, one of the most impressive of all those things is the building of enormous structures. China is currently planning on erecting the tallest man-made structure ever, in very short time, will they make it? Let's take a look at the current tallest in the world!

The tallest tower in the world. Built from 2008 to 2012, once it was completed it beat the Chinese Canton tower.

2.
Warsaw Radio Mast - 0m
Okay, I know what you're thinking, number two, that must be a really tall one, and then you see "0m". This is because it was destroyed in 1991, before that it used to be 646m high. It was used by Radio Warsaw and the radio signals were able to reach North America, pretty impressive, right?

1.
Burj Khalifa/Burj Dubai - 830m
The glass and steel mountain of the Arabian peninsula, where there was once an empty, dead desert, there's now a gigantic city, Dubai, in which the Burj Khalifa is located. It has two names, Burj Khalifa and Burj Dubai, originally, they called it Burj Dubai, but people kept calling it Burj Khalifa, so after a while both names were accepted.

Top 10 - greatest people ever

We are all people, and we don't think it's fair to say, but some of us are better than others. Here are the ten best people of all time!

10
Nelson Mandela
fought for the rights of black people in South-Africa and is admired worldwide.

9
Mahatma Ghandi
peaceful activist for equality worldwide, murdered by someone he tried to help, certainly the most useless and unfortunate murder of the twentieth century.

8
John D. Rockefeller
nobody knew the economic world like he did, as the wealthiest person of all time he earned a place in this list.

7
Sergey Brin & Larry Page
The founders of Google made the Internet clear and accessible for everyone, made an ultimate world map, build the best smartphones (although some might not find that), and will bring out glasses like in spy movies,  but in real life!

6
Steve Jobs & Bill Gates
the great computer pioneers, one brought out the first GUI, the other made it more accessible to everyone by bringing out a cheaper one. of course Macintosh was first, but Microsoft already existed back then, and Bill Gates was already on his way to be as well the richest as the most generous person in the world.

5
Genghis Khan
the greatest leader of all time. built up the Mongolian empire all way from Mongolia to Korea, India and Poland all by himself. (of course with an army, but you know what I mean...) after his death it shrunk all way to what's now Mongolia

4
Aristoteles
the greatest scientist of all time: first to discover that the world was round; genius in math; started what';s now known as chemistry; great physicist; good biologist; legendary philosopher. he was like DaVinci, but better and more than a thousand year earlier.

3
Unknown
What is the worst class in school? Math! But wherever you look, there's math, as a matter of fact, you're using it right now, because the binary system (the 0 and 1 stuff) is math too! without maths all other sciences wouldn't exist, buildings couldn't be built properly, and the worst

2
Unknown
Just like the one before this one, we don't know who and when, but that fire was discovered a long time ago, is sure, and that it's important too!

1
Unknown
We don't know who the greatest person of all time is, isn't that unfortunate? All we know is that this person invented the wheel. and as you know, without the wheel we'd be nowhere

Top 10 - Greatest empires

The world is divided in countries, some rich, some small, some poor, and some large, and some really unimaginably huge, the biggest ten are listed below!

10.
Rashidun Caliphate
Established after the death of Muhammad. They had the luck that the Roman empire fell, due to attacks of Barbarians, otherwise, they'd just have had a part of the Arabic Peninsula, and wouldn't have come in the top 10 of greatest empires of all time.

9.
Portuguese Colonial Empire
Of all colonial empires ever, the Portuguese has existed the longest, for over 600 years. 81.9% of the empire's land was situated in the current country of Brazil, which is still the largest country on the southern hemisphere. what's left today of this once so mighty empire is called, surprisingly, Portugal, a relatively small country with relatively big monetary problems.

8.
Abbisid Caliphate
This empire was founded by descendants of an uncle of Muhammad's, it was established by conquering large parts of the number five in this list.

7.
French Colonial Empire
You might once have wondered why French is the main language in so many African countries, the reason is that they were all part of France once. And so were Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and once some parts of the U.S. The French had big problems with letting some of their colonies go, most of the time the French ended up losing a guerrilla war in a jungle. Today the French remain a pact with their former colonies: "France will not interfere with it's former colonies".

6.
China
China is a bit different, it's listed only once, when it should be listed far more times, and that's the reason, the list would have been dominated by China, so the greatest China of all time, the Qing Dynasty, is listed here. The second largest they've been was during the Yuan Dynasty, but listing that would be absolute cheating, because back then, they were part of our number two of all time.
5.
Umayyad Caliphate
This enormous empire was the second of four Caliphates to be established after the death of Prophet Muhammad, thanks to this empire, which went all way west to Spain, were the largest city of that time in Europe was after the collapse of the Roman Empire, which was too small to be listed here, Cordoba was situated, the Islam was spread through northern Africa.

4.
Spanish Colonial Empire
This empire covered almost all of south America, except for Brazil of course. There was a time that Spain also ruled over Portugal, but that didn't last for long, as all colonial empires, eventually Spain had to let their colonies go.

3.
Russian Empire
If you thought that Russia is large now, you can't image the size of it in the year 1866, when the empire's size was ±133.3% of the size of the current Russia. of course, back then the Tsars still had all power in Russia.

2.
Mongolian Empire
Under their Great leader, Genghis Khan, their empire grew all way from Korea to Poland. Genghis Khan is probably the greatest conqueror in all of human history. Though the Khans after him tried to keep their empire as great as it was, they weren´t by far as good a leader as their ancestor, until Kublai Khan, who restored some parts of the gigantic empire, however the empire slowly collapsed after his death, what´s left of it today is Mongolia, which is nothing compared to the great power of the thirteenth century.

1.
British Colonial Empire
After centuries of conquering, fighting and progression, like the industrial revolution, in 1922, the British empire was at it´s height in size, covering almost a quarter of the land on our planet, their leader in that year, King George V, the first ever emperor of India to ever actually be there, first cousin of the last Russian Tsar, who was killed four year earlier. Today Great Britain still has a very special relationship with their former territories, they're part of the Commonwealth Realm, which helped the British letting their colonies go less violently than with France.

Top 10 - Supercars

There are many different cars, there are cars you need for yourself, there are cars you need for your work, there are cars you need to transport stuff, there are cars you need to farm and there are cars that you don't need at all, though these are the cars you want, and They're called: Supercars! But which Supercar stands for what Supercars stand for, not just being cool, being -73°K, which is colder than possible, because 0°K is the absolutely lowest temperature possible. Have Fun!

10.
The Aston-Martin (Just call it Aston, just like in Rolls-Royce you can drop the last name) One-77, a bit of an unusual name, I mean why write "One" as "One" and not as "1"?! with a temperature of -65°K you'd be deader than dead once you touch it. Top Speed: 355 km/h / 220 mph.

9.

Yes, indeed another Aston, a more sensible name, Aston-Martin Rapide, this name might just a little bit suggest that it's maybe a kind of a Supercar. It deserves a shivering temperature of -67°K and has a Top Speed of 300 km/h / 188 mph.

8.

We've left England and moved on directly to Italy, not by Plane, that takes far too long there are much quicker ways to get there, take the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, for example. I must say that the Italians know how to build cars, even though money doesn't seem to be their greatest talent... You might think that in Italy the temperatures are nicely warm, well, their cars aren't. This car isn't even their coldest, and still its'temperature is -67.5°K. This Monster has a Top Speed of 300 km/h / 188 mph.

7.

Moving to the north, to Germany, where the Gumpert Apollo is made, to take a look at it, but don't touch it! I think -68°K might just be too cold. The small company Gumpert can give their cars an incredible top speed of 360 km/h / 225 mph. Jawohl!

6.

And back to Italy, to be blown away by the -69°K Lamborghini (say: Lambo) Gallardo, and blowing away it does! This Stealth fighter-like Supercar, made by a former tractor company has a Top Speed of 310 km/h / 195 mph.

5.

Staying in Italy we get the Ferrari 458 Italia. if you think Supercar you think Ferrari  if you think formula 1 you also think Ferrari, and with a reason -69.5°K is really, really cold. but if you think Ferrari you think Italy AND Germany, because they used to have "Der Schumi", like the Germans call Michael Schumacher, in their F1 team, he was a real Ferrari-icon and has designed the interior of the 458 Italia. Top Speed: 325 km/h / 200 mph.

4.

What country, lying for 50% under the sea level, would you not expect to make Supercars? That's Right,  Holland. And where do they make cigars? Also Holland! (Yes, you thought Cuba! Admit it!) Because some call Donkervoort cars "cigar on wheels" and to be honest, the Donkervoort D8 GTO is no exception. Donkervoort say that they make cars with nothing extra, by which they mean: no electricity, so o automatic window, Satnav, whatever, just an engine, that's all, although an airbag would be useful in a crash with this car... While most cigars are smoked with high temperatures, this one's smoked at -70°K, with a smoking top speed of 270 km/h / 170 mph.

3.

then there is one of, I'd say the most classic Supercar ever and still to be made, the Porsche 911. It was originally made for Ferdinand Porsche's grandson, Ferdinand Porsche, and was based on the Volkswagen Beetle, which Ferdinand Porsche (the old one) designed for Adolf Hitler. Because it's being made for so long already, I decided to not pick one top speed, but to put them all into a graph. Oh, and it's temperature? -71°K.

2.

The fastest car ever to be built, named after the Milanese founder of the manufacturer, and made in the French city Straßburg, where the German-owned manufacturer's headquarters are situated. I am talking of course, about the Bugatti Veyron. let's not talk sh*t and move on to the specs: Top Speed: 431.072km/h /  267.865 mph;BHP: 1184 (no, there is no dot in there);price: $2,500,000.00; temperature: -71.5°K.

1.

not the fastest, not the most expensive, but it is the coolest, at -72°K. Remember three words and and exclamation mark: you-want-it-! the Lamborghini Aventador looks like a stealth fighter and has the top speed of one (not litteraly, but 350 km/h / 217 mph surely is a lot). Let's not read how cool it is, let's just watch a video made by TopGear! oh, and the lowest picture is the Aventador J (awentador ee-loongo), of which only one was made...
