Biggest Companies Of All Time

This summer (July, August and Septmber) we will have the theme Economics.

The following lists will appear on (instead of every seventh of a month) every day with the "0" in it. (10, 20 and 30) So we will get three lists a month instead of one!

Biggest companies of all time
Richest people ever
Most valuable currencies
Richest counties now
Lagerst national debts
Richest living people
Richest countries ever
Biggest companies today
Least valuable currencies

For our first list, we will take a look at wealth, and I'm not talking millions, I'm talking Billions and Trillions! but not for people, no, this list will learn you what companies were the biggest of all time. And with that I mean the most valuable companies. Inflation is calculated in the worth of the companies

10.
Exxon-Mobil - US$ 572,900,000,000
Around 1900 Standard oil controlled the American oil industry entirely, which was the reason for it's forced splitup in many independant companies. Two of which, Exxon and Mobil, later merged into a monstrously big oil company.

9.
Apple - US$ 661,600,000,000
Steve Jobs seems to be the reason for Apple's success, not because he founded the tech giant, but also because every time Jobs worked there, Apple grew, and if he wasn't, it got smaller. In august 2012 Apple reached it's height, thanks to products as the iPod, iMac, iPhone and a lot of other iStuff.

8.
Microsoft - US$ 851,000,000,000
Once it released itself from the power of IBM, Microsoft grew crazily, there's an immense chance that you are currently reading this on a Windows-running machine.

7.
PetroChina - US$ 1,000,000,000,000
As the biggest oil producer in China, getting big isn't that unlikely.

6.
IBM - US$ 1,300,000,000,000
IBM is still a large company, although it has been surpassed by other technological companies such as Microsoft, Google and Apple.

5.
Standard Oil - US$ 3,200,000,000,000
Standard Oil once controlled the American oil industry almost entirely. So supreme court decided that it had to spilt into various independant companies, like Exxon, Jersey STandard and a part of BP, of which many shares were still held by John D. Rockefeller, major share holder of Standard Oil.

4.
Saudi Aramco - US$ 3,600,000,000,000
The biggest Asian company ever, sometimes even concidered the biggest of the world ever, with an estimated, though unofficial, worth of 10,000,000,000,000 U.S. Dollars. it got so big because in Saudi Arabia there's a massive amount of oil in the ground. It is privately held by the Saudi Arabian Govenment.

3.
South Sea Company - US$ 4,000,000,000,000
The South Sea Company controlled a real estate bubble in the early 1700's.

2.
Mississippi Company - US$ 6,000,000,000,000
This company "succeeded" the number 1 of our list. It was founded in 1684 and collapsed in 1720. It towed it's wealth to a real estate bubble, and when the bubble popped in 1720, the company popped with it.

1.
VOC - US$ 7,400,000,000,000
With that mad amount of money the - by far - biggest European trader with Asia has earned it's number one place on our list. Thanks to this company, the Dutch experienced their "Gouden Eeuw"(golden century) during the 1600's. The Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, as the Dutch call it, is often associated with slavery, but the VOC is confused with the later founded WIC, whereas the VOC concentrated on spices from the far east, the WIC focused on the new world, using slaves, which wasn't nescessary to the VOC.
